If Fake blood was too Level Up, how pro could one be? - Horse

Theo Keating is such a talent in the music world, being electronic producers Fake Blood and DJ Touché, being part of duo The Black Ghosts, and having a successful hip hop career in the 90s with The Wise Guys...really no need to level up yet Fake bloods newest remix is again of such a high standard. Fake Blood follows a very distinctive sound, making his tracks easily recognisable but never stale. His remix with Level up becomes rather dark compared too the introducing melody but the element of surprise on his drops is what makes him a consistent dance floor people mover.

Finish mainman Sharkslayer is a name that when I see, I must hear. Having worked with labels like Top Billin', Trouble & Bass, Dim Mak, Southern Fried and Lektroluv to name a few, he has certainly been around in the industry. Sharkslayers tracks often sound familiar in my opinion, which is more of a credit to his production value rather than being a swipe at his creativity. He has produced some great party tracks ,such as his mix of Boom Riddim, which made him a solid act to support Mightyfools when they toured Melbourne 2010. The Trumpet is a really boppy, feel good track driven by an underlying bass, making for definite funsies.

Piano Bug is a song that really appealed to me because of its flow. The track builds from a simple piano melody getting ever so slightly distorted until some high end frequency pops in over the top. Throughout this process, the track never loses its original beat and mishes really well up to the 4.27 minute mark. His remix of Drop The Limes Shake Baby Shake was a good spin on the orginal, also worth a look.

Juice Juice Juice - Jungle Jim

My fellow GBI DJ's have been indisposed of late, so i will keep the blogging flowing!
Streching out for the first time to America, but still pursuing my never ending search for unkown talent, I came across a song by DJ Abap called 'Drop The Bass Like This.' It has a flavour that isn't unlike alot of the stuff coming out from the local melbourne artists like Reece Low, JDG and Kalus. Driving basslines coupled with an Dutch style synth line with plenty of reverb that is packed full of energy and would blasted out of plenty of club speakers in America. I will be keeping my eye out for more tunes by DJ Abap.

Check out his soundcloud profile, here.

DJ Abap - Drop The Bass Like This (Original Mix)

These next two songs are by a colleague of mine at JMC Academy, Karate Surfing. Karate Surfing has to be the most underrated, undiscovered talent I have ever come across. The two songs, 'Holiday' and 'Mango Juice' have a style that lends itself to his upbringing in Broome, WA. Summer flavours give them a happy, funky vibe and in each of the songs you can really hear the years of production skills and time that has gone into them. Mango Juice in particular is a favourite of mine. I love the vocals that go along with it, which are also done by Karate Surfing himself. The elements work perfectly together, complementing eachother, and while there is alot of detail in the song, no part seems out of place or overcomplicated. Love them both! Here they are :)

Out Of Bounds - Jungle Jim

Today I will bring you a few tunes that come further than my usual reach of Melbourne. These tunes are coming from the UK from a man under the name of 'The Puppet On Crack.' I posted one of his tracks in an earlier blog called 'The Puppet Theme.' To be honest there hasn't been one of his tunes that I've been 'Yeah thats good but his others are better'. Each one is unique in it's own way and has been put together with the utmost skill and care. This is all the more impressive because he has pumped out 9 tunes in the last 2 months. Woah! All of the sickest quality and vibe and if i could post everyone i would. Maybe I will in later blogs! Another thing that appeals to me about his music is just how underated he is, he has 529 followers on soundcloud, which should blody well have a few more zeros on the end.

First up is probly my favourite because of how creative this piece of music is. Remixing sounds from the video game Pacman to make something that doesn't just sound cool, but is a really banging bouncy track. Check it out.

The Puppet on Crack - PacMan (Original Mix)

This next one absoultely blew me away because it was the first demonstration of how diverse The Puppet on Crack's music is. Melodic chords build up amazingly into the most dick kicking acid drop that became an instant favourite of mine.

The Puppet on Crack - The Crack Attack (Original Mix)

The last song I will post of his before i blow my load his a tune called Suburb Beat - Happy Feet (The Puppet on Crack Remix). A cheeky tune that was only released 3 days ago and one that again illustrates the talent of the man. One other thing he does that caught my attention was that in every drop he will change the melody, or the rhythm, something that will keep the song fresh and listenable. Amazingly well demonstrated in the 2nd drop of this tune at 2.44.

Ill get off my knees now...

Have you got the Skrillex and Nero bootleg of Bass Cannon featuring the now sadly deceased Whitney Houston? - Horse

Do you want it? ^^ eat a bag of dicks. I start with some quotes from 'Filthy Ken', a prime player in a great couple of conversation samples from High Rankins new track Fuck you Virtual DJ. This song is a shout-out to punk DJs not respecting the music and other artists out there. The dubstep side of the track is well high pitched whereas I generally prefer my womp deep and bassy, but still definitely a cool track and a free download.

East side banter is the latest track from Aussie act Nadisko. Really dug the quirky vibe of this track and being free to download makes it all the better. Its really good to hear home grown quality techno coming from the likes of Nadisko as well as Jensen Interceptor and mysterious duo Australia made up of Gus Da Hoodrat and Lightyear who teamed up with Twin Turbo to release a great self titled EP late 2011.

Also just found this deep, dark and delicious new remix from Jensen Interceptor posted just today from Motorik Records. This fresh record label are throwing monthly free parties such as Lightyears Moderation EP launch, being held in Sydney and they look truly awesome, would love to attend one as who doesn't love a free techno orgy with some elite home-grown acts.

Tai's most recent release is a remix of Steve Aoki, Kid Cudi and Travis Barker. Egotistically named Cudi the Kid Tai jumps on board the growl house genre which I must say I am a fan of. He went a similar way with his Iconic remix for Moonbootica which delivers as well, but we've come to expect nothing but quality from Tai. Seeing him at Roxanne last year was a bit disappointing with the turnout but to his credit still went off and delivered the mad notes.

Must now go and get my drink on, peace.

It's that Simian, that Mobile Disco - MasterSys

After a string of EP releases and a compilation album throughout 2010-11, It's been a while since the British Lads Simian Mobile Disco have released material for a full fledged album. But the situation is non existent now as Simian has announced their new album, titled Unpatterns to be released on May 14th. Recently they've released their first track on the album titled Seraphim, a deep and chilled out Electronic track which is out now along with an extended version and another track titled Put your Hands Together.

Simian's become a firm favourite of mine over the years, after seeing them for the first time at Big Day Out in 09 I was hooked on their work, the Attack Decay Sustain Release album oozed variety from tracks such as Hustler, Tits & Acid and one of my all time favourites Wooden. Their willingness to mix it up with each release is just refreshing, I'd go as far to say they're the prodical sons of The Chemical Brothers, they're that good.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In other new releases that have hit, Erol Alkan and Boys Noize have paired up once again releasing their EP titled Roland Rat/Brainstorm which is out now. I just find every time they're paired they've puked out gold, from bangers such as Lemonade, Death Suite and Waves and they've done it again with this recent release. Brainstorm oozes craziness and Roland Rat returns familiar sounds that still are surprisingly refreshing today.

Pardon this poorly written post, I'm in dire need of a good sleeping pattern. Take care for now - MasterSys.

Congorockers in the house tonight! - Horse

Arghh that title makes me feel a little sick, but the new track from Congorock Agarta is a hard-ass banger sure to knock your socks off (far from anything affiliated with LMFAO). It seems to me that Congorock struggled to find his sound after the amazing 2010 track Babylon but in recent months has come out with heavy tunes in Sirius, Ivory and now Agarta. Agarta dominates the low end frequencies with a raw and vibratory bassline and a forever climbing melody. Check out this Italian gun as part of Creamfield festivities hitting Melbourne April 28th.

GBI would also like your help with a remix comp as part of Creamfields. If a moment or 2 can be spared all you have to do it is follow this link https://www.facebook.com/totemtrance/?sk=app_404261502924094, like their page and Vote for the GBI DJ Remix

Thunderbird Juicebox releases this free download condimentally named Peanut Butta 2012. Heard this tune in Drop the Limes latest set and with Scarlet Fevers acapella and a driving Baltimore influenced heavy sound delivers the goods. The track mentions alot of "riding" and 'booty shaking so get up on it and bang!".

The next track I wanted to have a gander at is a Mad World remix by Manic Focus, certainly slowing things down a bit from the above posts. Now before we start reminiscing on how good a movie Donnie Darko was, the flow to this track is what makes it a winner. Capitalizing on a funkstep and chillwave sub-genres while still letting the original and sincere lyrics reign through. Its also got a free download exclusive to ThisSongisSick.com or via their soundcloud.

CREEP! enjoy this guy staring at you while you sleep :) until next time xo
